Reporting to the Project Manager, Innovation, the Data Cloud Developer is responsible for designing and optimizing data storage solutions, managing databases, automating infrastructure provisioning, and deploying containerized workloads in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. The role also supports automated data processing, integration, and management activities, as well as the deployment of pipelines and workflows for the Digital Ship platform.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What you'll do
Develops and manage relational and non-relational database models, schemas, and storage solutions to ensure structured and unstructured data is efficiently stored, accessed, and effectively managed throughout its lifecycle.
Builds and maintains automated infrastructure provisioning and deployment pipelines to ensure seamless hybrid cloud and on-prem resource management.
Implements and manages containerized workloads for orchestrating cloud-based applications and services.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth integration and reliable operation of REST API microservices and machine learning pipelines within the overall architecture.
Documents system architecture, workflows, and database management procedures and practices to ensure operational efficiency, knowledge sharing, and future scalability for Digital Ship Twin platform extensions.
What you'll bring
An undergraduate degree in STEM disciplines relevant to software development or data management systems with 5+ years of industry experience.
Expertise in building and optimizing scalable data and/or cloud pipeline infrastructure, as a data engineer and/or Azure Cloud Platform Engineer.
Demonstrated abilities in relational and non-relational database engineering with functional knowledge or experience in database modeling, schema design, optimization, query tuning, and end-to-end database management.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines including automated build, deployment, and release management for web-based applications.
Understanding of DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code, automation, monitoring, data security best practices, and incident response.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in deployed platform cloud instances, ensuring high availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Team-player with good written and verbal communication skills.
Solid proficiency in Python or SQL for data processing and workflow automation.
Experience with containerization and hybrid cloud deployments.
Experience working in hybrid-agile environments and participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and collaborative development processes that efficiently deliver high-quality software.
Familiarity or experience with big data tools and platforms is a plus.

The estimated salary for this position is $94,000 - $112,800. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
