Supervisor, Child and Family Nursing Best Practice - 1 Year Contract (Personal Services)

Key Areas of Accountability
VHA's Nursing Supervisors have the following key areas of accountability, but not limited to:
Facilitates and supports education and learning activities for assigned nursing teams and provides point of care supervision to ensure nursing competencies.
Champions the advancement of professional and evidence-based best practices, education, and an integrated inter-professional practice environment.
Works collaboratively with the Best Practices Team to review and support an on-going orientation/education plan, and an annual competency validation process for clinical and clinical support staff.
Ensures that skills, competencies and advanced practices are in accordance with the respective regulatory bodies, VHA policies and procedures, guidelines and directives, and that all activities conducted for VHA are congruent with the organization's standards of safety and quality, privacy and employment standards including human rights legislation.
Participates in the hiring process and provides point of care orientation and oversight to newly hired nursing staff.
Ensures that care and service requirements are collaboratively determined with clients and families and the regional care teams.
Develops specialized procedures related to service delivery, acts as a role model and change agent, represents VHA in the community, advances and supports ongoing marketing of VHA services, and champions VHA's commitment to practice excellence and quality care.
Required Qualifications:
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Undergraduate Degree in Nursing/Science in Nursing and current certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
Membership of your Professional Association preferred (RNAO/ WeRPN, CNA certification).
5-years progressive experience in nursing of which 2-years include experience in a supervisory or advanced practice role in end-of-life care
Good understanding of the health care services and delivery processes in the community/home care sector
Strong clinical practitioner with an ability to use knowledge-transfer techniques to put evidence-based knowledge into practice
Excellent leadership and facilitation skills and the ability to coach and motivate teams
Demonstrated knowledge and/or skills in the use of information technology for electronic clinical documentation and clinical decision support
Awareness and understanding of all relevant legislation related to practice standards, standards of safety and quality, and employment standards including human rights legislation
Valid driver's license and use of a car on the job required
