Environmental Consultant, Site Investigation Specialist (Mid-Level) (Project Management)
ERM is seeking a Environmental Consultant, Site Investigation Specialist to join the Liability Portfolio and Management (LPMR) team at the Toronto Office. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to provide support on environmental site investigation (ESA) and remediation projects with a focus in mining and mine closure.
As a member of the team, you will participate in all stages of ESA projects from scope preparation, project prep and logistics to field work, data analysis and report preparation. This position includes fieldwork in addition to desktop reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be accountable for ensuring deliverables meet client expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality across ERMs Mine Closure and LPMR service lines including management and direction of subcontractors.
Proactively engage and network with other ERM staff regionally and globally, for knowledge sharing, market monitoring, and business development coordination.
Contribute to business development of ERM's LPMR service area. Support development of new opportunities, including preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
Prepare, implement, and lead support on site investigation, monitoring and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues, with a focus in the mining sector.
Expected daily activities include but are not limited to:
Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments to CSA and O.Reg 153/04 requirements
Supervision of fieldwork programs locally and nationally;
Supervision of subcontractors, implementation and enforcement of ERM safety policies, ERM standard work procedures and ERM quality standards;
Collection of groundwater, soil and soils gas/vapour samples;
Comprehensive documentation of field activities, summary tables and borehole logs;
Providing input into environmental reports;
Supporting proposals and business development;
Supporting project managers through budget/task management;
Field supervision of site remediations including steam-enhanced thermal remediation.
Waste analysis, disposal recommendation, and waste audits per O.Reg 347 requirements
Mining and Mine Closure/Lifecycle Support:
Preparation of reclamation and closure plans to support existing mines (i.e., operations or closure),
Development of closure plans that support provincial and/or federal environmental assessments.
Our approach to mine closure focuses on integrating site investigation throughout the project lifecycle in a style that our clients have identified sets ERM apart. This is an opportunity for versatile, safety conscious consultants with experience working on environmental site investigations and mining projects. The successful applicant must be resourceful and resilient and show an interest in applying knowledge and skills to help our clients solve complex challenges in unique and/or efficient ways.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's engineering, geology, environmental science, or related discipline.
3+ years relevant environmental consulting experience.
Prior experience working as part of an integrated team of consultants and engineering companies.
Strong project leadership skills (e.g., preparation and implementation of fieldwork activities, preparation of technical reports, data analysis, budgets, schedules, and project controls).
Ability to provide technical expertise related to site investigations and evaluations and remediation design and implementation.
Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
Experience with soil and groundwater investigation and monitoring.
Eligibility for professional registration (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, or P.Ag.) is an asset.
A complementary discipline to mining (i.e., water resources, soil, etc.) is an asset.
Additional language skills (e.g., French) is an asset.
For the Environmental Consultant, Site Investigation Specialist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $69,172 – $81,163 CAD. An employee's pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee's fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
