Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Analyst II supports the accounting and reporting responsibilities. The role will include month-end entries, reviewing account reconciliations, monitoring of accounts, reviewing accruals, analysis of results, financial reporting, and project support. This position supports all aspects of operational finance & accounting within the division.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What you'll do
Reviews and analyses accounts and results, which includes engaging with business leaders to understand current state and operational requirements, identifying their needs and supporting their financial analysis including budgeting, monthly reporting, and forecasting.
Reviews month-end accounting entries including revenue, cost, balance sheet, and amortization accruals.
Prepares month-end operational reports and business review templates.
Responsible for balance sheet lead sheets and working papers on monthly basis.
Reviews reconciliations of accounts to sub-ledgers.
Provides variance analysis of results compared to budgets, prior year actuals and forecasts.
Supports quarter-end and year-end reporting processes.
Provides support to accounting staff and other department managers as required.
Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring
Accounting diploma or Accounting/Finance degree preferred.
Professional designation: CPA (CA,CMA,CGA) is required.
A minimum of 5 years' work experience in Finance and Accounting. This includes experience in financial reporting, close process, and accounts analysis.
Knowledge and experience in Canadian ASPE GAAP and related financial reporting requirements.
Strong knowledge in month-end close process.
Knowledge in ERP and MRP (JDE or equivalent) Business Systems.
Proficient in MS-Office (Excel /Word/Outlook/PowerPoint/Visio).
Strong presentation Skills (internal & external).
Adaptability and open to change.
Ability to work well under pressure, problem solve and multi-task.
Customer service orientation, self-starter and initiative driven.
Good business acumen; and;
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.

The estimated salary for this position is $81,000 - $99,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
