MPI Inspector
Edmonton, Alberta
Job Description and Responsibilities
The MPI Inspector is responsible for moving threaded products through a wet fluorescent magnetic particle system. This includes conducting a thorough visual inspection of the product's surface and preparing it for the next stage in the manufacturing process. After the robotic deburring process, couplings are automatically loaded into the wet bench, where they are submerged in fluorescent fluid and magnetized using a low-voltage probe. The product is then visually inspected for cracks, deep pits, and significant grind marks under both ultraviolet and white lighting. Following the inspection, the products are cleaned with compressed air and stacked on a pallet. Products that do not pass inspection are reworked through grinding or turning on a lathe. Once new hire orientation and on-the-job training are completed, the MPI Inspector is also expected to follow the company's safety and quality protocols. They must work safely and in an environmentally responsible manner, transport products to and from their work area, manage the deburring and machine scrap operation and maintain proper operating levels of inspection equipment.
