The Welding Support Coordinator works with production supervisor and project stakeholders to coordinate work packages and ensures project weld requirements are being met through our quality management systems to meet company quality assurance procedures and objectives. Day to day you will be responsible for operating the company's welding quality management system Weldeye. This position reports to the Welding Superintendent.
What you'll do
Manages work packages into production ensuring all required information is available.
Coordinates the creation of work packages by liaising with technical teams.
Accountable for the ensuring welding records are updated correctly and efficiently within the welding team in accordance with company quality assurance procedures and objectives.
Operates and manages the company Weldeye software weld quality management module.
Manages the maintenance of welder qualification and prolongation through Weldeye software.
Creates work orders for NDE and ensures inspection requirements are being met.
Coordinate's customer hold points, inspections, and ITP plans to progress and complete OQE data/ weld traceability to the requirements of company quality assurance processes.
Monitors work progress for compliance to welding requirements and escalates issues to the production supervisor.
Coordinates deviations from work to ensure efficient completion (i.e., repair of welds, technical errors).
Assists the quality assurance team to continuously improve program/project specific documented processes and procedures.
Coordinates technical review meetings of welding requirements and ITP with Production Supervisor and other key stakeholders where required.
Performs additional duties as assigned in accordance with job description.
Previous experience working in or closely with the welding trades.
IIW/IWS qualification is an asset.
Minimum 5 years' experience is preferred.
Business ethics, integrity, and honesty in all situations.
Knowledge of the requirements of CSA and international welding standards.
Knowledge of VSL Quality Assurance policies and procedures is an asset.
Written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Experience in using Weldeye software is an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $81,000 - $99,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
